Milkmaid makes less than $50 a month in Belarus
A milkmaid makes 82 roubles ($42.8) a month on the state farm Seltsy in Hlybokaye District of Vitsebsk Region. The woman worked without days-off in October. Her indignant son has uploaded her pay slip on the Internet.
The milkmaid received 32 roubles 25 kopecks. She also accepted part of her wage in the form of tinned fish Braslauryba (11 roubles 71 kopecks). She will have to survive one month on it.
The sum is true, Seltsy farm told Euroradio. “The workers get 25% of the farm gain. We produce milk and meat. The production reduced in October and the wages reduced accordingly,” the farm administration explained.
The average wage was 100 roubles in Seltsy in October. It will be increased a little after recalculation because the accounting department made a mistake. The employees of Seltsy will survive on this money until mid-spring when a new agricultural season starts.
The milkmaid is the mother of five children, westki.info reports. Two of her elder sons have their own families. The third son is about to be drafted. It was him who uploaded the wage form to the Internet. There are also two daughters: one of them is a student and the other is a schoolgirl.
