Mother of many children throws her baby away

A baby was found in the dust hole in the village of Nouka (Vitsebsk District) yesterday. The boy was lucky – the yard-keeper found him only an hour after his mother had thrown him away. The police found out that the woman was a 43-year-old mother of many children, a local inhabitant. She gave birth to the child at home, then rolled the baby in old cloths and threw him away. It is not clear why the woman did it. The boy has been delivered to the resuscitation unit. Doctors say he will stay alive.

The baby has no name. The Vitsebsk District Office of Public Prosecutor informs that his mother may give him a name after the baby is back in the family. The future of the baby will depend on the future of his mother. If it turns out that she was forced to throw the baby away or did it in a fit of temporary insanity she may avoid punishment.

A criminal case for attempting at the life of the newborn infant has been started against the woman.
