Muratau: European Parliament is preparing strict sanctions

The draft resolution on the Belarusian presidential election, which is to be discussed in the European Parliament on Monday, contains unprecedentedly strict sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Belarusian officials, said the chief editor of the "Novaya Gazeta" Dzmitry Muratau to "RIA "Novosti". "The draft resolution will be discussed this Monday at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. I know who prepared this draft resolution, I met with the group of MEPs. It contains a demand for the unprecedentedly strict for the EP sanctions against Lukashenka and his officials", — Muratau said.

According to him, the European Parliament demands to free political prisoners. Also, one of the claims of the draft resolution may be the demand to conduct a new election in Belarus.
