“New Life” church reminded about imposed fine
The chief officer of the court of Minsk Economic Court Victoria Kaminskaya reminded a Protestant church “New Life” about the fine for pollution of the environment on November 18. The lawyer of the church Syarhei Lukanin has informed ERB about it. Lukanin says that believers consider the decision to be “absurd” and are not going to pay the fine exceeding Br250 million: Lukanin: "This is absurd. That’s a church. There is no enterprise that could contaminate the land with petroleum here. That’s a fib. We refused to fulfill the court’s decision according to which we had to pay that huge fine. Thus, the authorities think that we have decided to be outlawed. However, the authorities are making us outlawed by their attitude to our church”.
Let us remind you that the conflict with Minsk City Executive Committee concerning the church building emerged in 2005. The church was accused of polluting the environment with oil products. According to ecologists, the church has contaminated its territory with petroleum thrice as much as all Brest Province enterprises did in half a year.
The account of the church was arrested when it refused to pay the fine. There was 935 thousand rubles on it at that moment.
