New minimal wage fixed in Belarus
A new minimal wage will be fixed by the Belarusian government on January 1, 2009. According to the decree of the Council of Ministers, the minimal monthly wage will be 229 thousand 700 roubles and the minimal hourly wage – 1 thousand 360 roubles. BelTA noted that the government’s decision can protect low-paid workers. The minimal wage has increased by 10% in comparison with January 1, 2008.
