No more Lenin Street in Polatsk
Polatsk authorities have decided to return Lenin Street its historical name. Our reporter Valery Zueu was the first to get to know it:
“The deputy head of the City Executive Committee’s department of ideology Alyaksandr Adzinochkin informed about it during a meeting with the staff of Polatsk Museum of History and Culture”. The name of the street will be changed to Vyalikaya this autumn. It carried the name from the Middle Ages till the end of the 18th century. Then the name was changed to Nizhnepakrouskaya and then to the name of the leader of proletarians during the Soviet time.
The local authorities are also planning to make Vyalikaya Street reserved for pedestrians.
