Nyaklyaeu and Sannikau demand "an hour of truth" from Yarmoshyna (photo)

Two presidential candidates' representatives have conducted an action near the Central Election Commission's building and tried to get to the All-Belarusian People's Congress. About 60 people gathered near the House of Government in order to pass an appeal for providing more air time to the candidates to the Central Election Commission. Let us remind you, this appeal was signed by Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu and Andrej Sannikau during their common picket. The candidates were not present near the CEC building this time. Mikhail Pashkevich represented Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, and Jauhen Afnahel represented Andrej Sannikau.

"There are two weeks left before the election, and yesterday one person held a speech at the All-Belarusian Congress at about 3 o'clock. He poured the dirt onto all of us, especially our leaders. We will once again repeat our demands to Yarmoshyna, signed by two candidates - Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu and Andrej Sannikau. We demand more TV-speeches. That's all", – that's how a representative of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu's electoral HQ Mikhail Pashkevich started the action.

We addressed to other candidates as well, continues Mr. Pashkevich.

“There was an open invitation to yesterday's demonstration. Everyone could join. As we see, not everyone managed to come. If we pass this appeal, it will be to the advantage of all the candidates. As it concerns not just Sannikau and Nyaklyaeu - it concerns all of them”.

A CEC member with advisory capacity Tatsiana Protska passed the appeal to the Central Election Commission. At the same time, the activists hanged a streamer with demands onto the gate of the House of Government.

Lidzia Yarmoshyna wasn't there. The CEC Chairperson was at the All-Belarusian Congress at that time. The CEC Secretary Mikalaj Lazavik took the petition with the candidates' demands from Tatsiana Protska. He promised to discuss this issue at the nearest CEC session.

“We discussed this issue with Mr. Lazavik now and decided it should be considered at the CEC session which is scheduled on Thursday or Friday. Air time is quite expensive. It is for the Belteleradiocompany's directive board to decide whether to provide it or not. The CEC can address to the Belteleradiocompany with a request to provide this air time. I think that the CEC can do it”, – stated Tatsiana Protska.

At the same time, the activists were asked to take the streamer off the gate as it interfered with the traffic movement - the gate couldn't be opened.

The activists negotiated for a while and decided to take this streamer to the Palace of Republic, where the All-Belarusian Congress was taking place at that moment. They decided to pass the demands to Yarmoshyna personally.

However, the activists failed to get there. Policemen in plain clothes stopped them near the GUM store, which is halfway to the Palace of Republic.

After a short conversation with the police, the organizers of the action called on the people to stop the action and leave.

“I hope that the authorities will take a reasonable step and provide air time to the independent candidates.  We do not want conflicts now. We showed that the authorities are afraid of us, - said Andrej Sannikau's representative Jauhen Afnahel to the European Radio for Belarus.
