Nyaklyaeu: Elections may be postponed
Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, leader of Say the Truth! campaign, does not rule out that the presidential elections in Belarus could be put off for one year. He made this statement in an interview with Euroradio. “The elections cannot be cancelled. It would be a catastrophe. But I don't rule out that the polls may be postponed. The National Congress can name it as a reason to save the Motherland instead of playing democracy games in conditions when there are enemies around, with even Russia closing the pipelines. There is no money. The money was there but the bad guys from Gazprom took it. Actually, if I were in Lukashenka's shoes, I would have such thoughts coming on my mind", Nyaklyaeu said.
At the same time, he denounced reports on the web site of Malady Front that he had allegedly agreed to take part in the presidential elections as a candidate.
When asked by Euroradio about his presidential ambitions, Nyaklyayeu said he was yet to make a decision. At the same time, he does not rule out that if the date of the election is set and when campaign's leadership and activists decide that he should run, he would obey their decision.
