Office of Prosecutor General says Belarus will not extradite Bakiyev
The Office of Prosecutor General has decided to reject Kyrgyzstan's request for the extradiction of former Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, spokesman Piotr Kisyalyou told Euroradio. The Office of Prosecutor General did not elaborate on why the request was rejected.
Azimbek Beknazarov, deputy chairman of Kyrgyzstan's interim government, said earlier in an interview with Radio Svaboda that the authorities in Belarus refused to extradite Bakiyev, because there is a political motivations in the actions of the interim government towards the former president.
