Opposition to announce local elections undemocratic
The opposition is going to make a joint statement about the undemocratic local elections. It was announced during the consultations that took place in Minsk on March 26. Leaders of the United Democratic Forces, the Belarusian Independent Block and the European Coalition took part in the consultation. The statement will illustrate the biased attitude of the authorities to the creation of election commissions and facts of pressure exercised on opposition structures.
The idea of mentioning the opposition’s desire to withdraw from the elections has not been supported by some participants.
BelaPAN notes that it was claimed that the structures that took part in the meeting had nominated about 700 people to run for deputy seats.
