Pavel Sevyarynets imprisoned for 17 days
A well-known opposition politician Pavel Sevyarynets, detained during an action of Solidarity with Yaraslau Hryshchenya in Baranavichy this morning, has been arrested for 17 days. A human rights defender Maria Savushkina informed ERB about it. Three protocols were drawn up against Sevyarynets. The first one was about hooliganism – the politician was said to have been blowing a whistle loudly and thus violated the civil order.
The second protocol concerned participation in an unapproved mass action and shouting mottos “Live Belarus” and “Free Hrychchenya”. The third was for resisting the police. Sevyarynets did not agree to the protocols because, according to the politician, no whistle was found, he expressed his civil position near the building of the court and he resisted policemen because they did not introduce themselves.
As a result, Sevyarynets was sentenced to 15 days of detention according to one of the protocols and to two days – according to another one and to a fine of 20 base amounts according to the third protocol.
