People to lay flowers on Vasil Bykau’s grave tonight
Today is the birthday of Vasil Bykau. The writer could turn 83 on June 19, 2007. The Belarusian PEN Centre and the Union of Belarusian writers invite all citizens to bring flowers to his grave tonight.
The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. at the Eastern Cemetery in Minsk. The deputy chairperson of the Belarusian PEN Centre Andrei Skurko says:
Andrei Skurko: “We would like it to become a tradition. It would be great if people came here, recalled him and gathered together. It is very easy; anyone who thinks that Bykau and our mother Belarus are precious can do it”.
