Poland sets presidential election date for June 20
The election of the Polish president will take place on June 20, according to a decree signed by Polish parliament speaker Bronislaw Komorowski who has taken over as the head of the state after the tragic death of Lech Kaczynski. If none of the candidates gains over 50 percent of votes in the first round, the run-off will be held on July 4.
The Belta news agency reports that the list of potential presidential candidates includes Bronislaw Komorowski, conservative Janusz Korwin-Mike, centrist Tomasz Nalencz and independent candidate Andrjei Olechowski. Media reports suggested earlier that the Law and Justice party could nominate Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the twin brother of the perished president.
