Poland suggests EU should celebrate 20th anniversary of communism collapse
Poland has suggested that the EU should announce 2009 a year of the 20th anniversary of the collapse of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. The suggestion was made by the head of the European Integration Committee Nikolai Devgilevich in Brussels on Tuesday. He mentioned the events that took place in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Warsaw also suggests a celebration of the 5th anniversary of the expansion of the European Union that took place on May 5, 2004. Devgilevich said the suggestion of Poland was welcomed by Ministers of Foreign Affaires of EU member states, reports euro.pap.pl.
