Polish and German Foreign Ministers to arrive in Minsk on November 2

The German and Polish Foreign Ministers Guido Westerwelle and Radoslaw Sikorski will visit Belarus on November 2. BelaPAN notes that the Ministers’ visit will take place on the eve of the presidential elections in Belarus. Both European officials would like to send an expressive European message to Belarus in connection with the elections. A meeting of the European Ministers with their Belarusian counterpart Syarhei Martynau and the Belarusian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka is expected to take place during the visit.

Sikorski is also planning to discuss the Belarusian-Polish relations during negotiations with the head of the President’s Administration Uladzimir Makei.

Besides official meetings, heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Germany and Poland would like to meet some Belarusian presidential contenders and representatives of the civil community in Minsk.
