Polish embassy: Anzhalina Borys' departure is unexpected

The decision of Anzhalika Borys to step down from the post of the chairperson of the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus was unexpected for the Polish embassy in Minsk, Pavel Marchuk, the first secretary of the Polish mission to Belarus, told Belapan news agency. In the view of the diplomat, Anzhalika Borys made this decision "simply because she got tired of the situation".

Marchuk refuted reports that Borys decided to resign after a meeting with Poland's deputy foreign minister Genrych Litvin in Hrodna. The diplomat said that the Polish authorities have no right to influence on the decisions of the leadership of the Union of Poles and have never interfered with any decision of the union.

Anzhalika Borys announced her resignation plans on June 12. The council of the Union of Poles in Belarus will discuss this issue on June 19.
