Programmer Pavel Donau to go to Metallica’s concert
The European Radio for Belarus has chosen the winner of the contest “Who will go to Metallica’s concert?”
The winner of the ERB’s contest “Who will go to Metallica’s concert” was chosen on July 13. In a minute you get to know who will go to the concert in Moscow. Now let’s listen to opinions of members of the jury concerning the contest and its participants, namely about translations of Metallica’s lyrics sent to ERB’s address. A poet Mihal Anempadystau says he paid attention to only two participants who made rhymed translations.
Mіhal Anempadystau: “A translation you could sing would be ideal”.
He regretted that most participants stuck to the rules of the contest and translated only a passage from the song.
Mіhal Anempadystau: “If you like such music and it is your favourite band and you would like to go to the concert you could translate the whole text at least out of respect to Metallica”.
Maryika Martysevіch assessed translations according to the creativity of their authors.
Maryika Martysevіch: “For example, I took into account their artistic features – whether participants managed to rhyme their translations and whether you could sing to the same tune in Belarusian”.
According to the literati, she did not expect so many people to join in the competition.
Maryika Martysevіch: “The fact that they came proves that many people joined in the game and I liked it”.
Now let’s talk about the winner. It is a programmer Pavel Donau. Pavel says he has been admiring Metallica for a long time and that he likes to translate their lyrics in his spare time. So he immediately joined in the game when he saw the announcement on ERB’s web site.
Pavel Donau: “I assessed and compared other people’s translations with mine. I admitted that I had some chance”.
Now the guy is getting train tickets to Moscow and promises to participate in other ERB’s contests in the future.
The coordinator of the project Kasya Zolatava summed it up.
Kasya Zolatava: “We consider it a difficult contest. We got 19 replies and it was really great. Now the winner is announced and we would like to thank everyone who participated in the competition”.
