20 foreigners fined and arrested for resisting police
Minsk Central District Court has pronounced sentences to 18 citizens of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
They were detained on New Year's Eve near the Palace of Sport. A huge group of "Asians... behaved badly", BelTA reports. They did not react to remarks made by policemen. Furthermore, they tried to resist the police.
20 people were detained. 18 of them were citizens of Turkmenistan who study in Minsk and two people were Uzbek workers. They were accused of petty hooliganism.
Only 18 people stood trial, Interfax-West reports. Eight of them were jailed for 2 days and ten were fined for 20 dollars each. As the arrested had already spent two days behind the bars, they were released in court.
