$10 mln budget increase for Belarus state TV in 2013
This is a 20% boost in funding against 2012.
The 2013 National Budget draft envisages more funding compared to the previous year for the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company, MP Valiantsina Leanovich told Euroradio.
"I have checked the proposed budget for Belusian TV and Radio company. It is set at Br454 billion. I don't know what amount is planned for the consolidated budget that includes advertising revenues. This is at least what has been allocated in the national budget," Ms Leanovih said.
Under the latest exchange rate, Belarus state TV and radio are planned to receive funding in amount of $53,411,000. In 2012, their budget totaled slightly over $43 million, according to the December 2011 exchange rate.
Despite this substantial increase in funding, Belarusian TV and Radio company was fast to announce that it will no longer pay for producing and recording the participants of the national qualification for the Eurovision 2013 song contest.
