Football: Bressan to keep Belarus passport
Brazil-born BATE midfielder Renan Bressan joins Russian side Alania Vladikovkaz
BATE and Belarus attacking midfielder has been signed by Alania on a 3.5 years contract.
Alania Vladikovkaz currently lies second from bottom (15th) in the Russian Premier League table. Footballer's agent Valery Isayev told Euroradio there were no other options:
"There was some interest from German scouts, Italy. But in this case, the club manager called directly."
Alania gave Renan Bressan "the most concrete offer," says Isayev. Club's president and manager Valery Gazayev had attended several matches of Belarus national team with Bressan playing. He and BATE's managers were in talks for the past three weeks.
Valery Isayev notes Bressan will be making several times more money at Alania than at BATE Borisov.
Renan Bressan would love to keep playing for Belarus, since he holds Belarus citizenship. When striking the deal with Alania, Bressan used his Belarusian passport.
The midfielder is allowed to play for BATE against Bayern Munich on December 5. He will fly from Moscow directly to Germany to join Victor Hancharenka's squad before the Champions League group stage match.
