Historic building to be demolished in Pruzhany District? (photo)
It is one of the first Belarusian manufactories.
The two-storey 19th-century building is situated in the village of Semyancha-II, three kilometers away from Pruzhany. It resembles a small copy of Sapega’ Palace in Ruzhany.
Poet and student of local lore Mikola Papeka says that the building could become a tourist attraction:
Papeka: "It is a very beautiful chic building built of huge stones and it may be demolished. People say that Slonim demolishers have already agreed to do it. It is senseless! But for a farm situated nearby, a rich person could have made it a tourist attraction long ago”.
The farm is far less important than the historic building and it maybe moved, says Papeka. In his opinion, a hotel could be situated in the historic building – there is not enough room in Pruzhany.
Pruzhany District Executive Committee is unaware of the demolition plan and of the manufactory in Semyancha-II: it is not a listed building.
