Human rights defenders to mark Byalyatski's birthday with solidarity action
The head of "Viasna" will turn 49 on September 25.
On this day, Byalyatski's colleagues are going to organize an action near the Main Post Office in Minsk at 12.00. They will hand out postcards with greetings to him. The organizers of the action claim that they will conduct it despite any possible obstacles.
Human rights defender Uladzimir Labkovich has told on air to Euroradio that he receives a letter from Ales Byalyatski every week.
Uladzimir Labkovich: "In the first place, he contemplates, he supports us in our activity. As he is limited in writing, I mean, all his letters are censored, he mostly writes about the state of his inner world - he stays strong, psychologically he is not broken, he does not complain about his health or his destiny, he stays at the same positions as before".
