Kindergarten yard-keepers get smallest wages in Belarus
They are paid the minimum wage of 687 thousand roubles. However, Belarusians agree to do the lowest-paid jobs nowadays.
Staff specialists explain the decrease of the real Belarusian minimum wage by the fact that many companies have gone bankrupt and by the complicated situation in state institutions.
“The minimum wage a person without higher education could agree to used to be 900 thousands before the financial crisis”, - comments Minsk “Natallya Zolatava’s Job Centre”. However, it has decreased a bit. It is because of the unemployment. Many people have become unemployed, companied have closed down. The state institutions are having a hard time too”.
The agency has added that sales promotion managers are looked for most of all in Minsk now. There are not enough of them even taking into account the fact that their minimum wage is 2.5 million roubles. Storekeepers and database operators are the least represented professions in the capital.
“The least represented professions are storekeepers, database operators and accountants working with basic documents. Such specialists make at least 700 thousands”.
This is the lowest wage in the country. The Belarusian minimum wage totals 678 thousand roubles now. Even provincial employers cannot pay less. Vitsebsk Job Centre has informed Euroradio that kindergarten and school yard-keepers are the least paid jobs in the city on the Daugava.
“We always have vacancies for yard-keepers. Their wages are at least 80 thousands. They can be paid even less. Lower paid vacancies are usually available in educational institutions – yard-keepers in kindergartens and schools. Organizations are not allowed to pay less than the minimum wage”.
However, there are people willing to work for this money during the crisis.
