Kyrgyzstan General Prosecutor's Office demands Bakiyevs extradition
Previously, Belarus refused to extradite these refugees.
Former President of
Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who found political asylum in our country, was
sentenced in absentia in Bishkek to 24 years of imprisonment. According to the
decision of the Bishkek garrison military court, Bakiyev's brother Janysh
(ex-head of the State Security Service) got life-time imprisonment with
property confiscation.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev was found guilty of abuse of official powers, while Janysh
Bakiyev - of killing several people and other crimes.
According to the information
provided by the official web-site of the Kazakhstan General Prosecutor's Office, the sentences have already come
into force. On February 27, they sent a demand on the extradition of the
Bakiyevs "to execute the court sentence", to the General Prosecutor's
Office of Belarus.
