Man who crippled gannets to pay more than 23 million roubles

2,5 million of these money will go to pay the fine, remaining 20,7 million roubles will go for compensation of the damaged caused to the environment - to the state's account, BELTA informs.

Let us remind you, someone cut the upper part of the beaks of dozens of gannet bridling on June 16 at one of the lakes in Chashniki district. The people were forced to put down the birds as they had no chance to survive with such an injury. The police found the criminal - he worked in the same fishery co-op where the birds were found.

The court hearings took place in the Chashniki district court on August 10. As it was previously informed by Euroradio, they had not started a criminal case because... gannets are not considered hunting birds. Thus, the 30-year-old man only faced an administrative punishment.

The criminal explained his demeanor in court. Apart from everything else, he told that he "heard about the damage that these birds cause as they eat much fish". According to him, he twisted the burdlings' necks and then cut the upper part of their beaks.
