Microsoft copes with vulnerability of Skype
The company just closed the opportunity to restore Skype password.
Blogger Anton Nosik was the first to inform that his Skype account had been hacked.
However, the hacker who stole Nosik's password told him about it himself so he managed to restore the access.
Euroradio has found out how to stole somebody else's Skype password. To do this, you should know the login and the e-mail of the potential victim.
– register a new Skype account (any name) at the victim's e-mail (Skype will write that such e-mail is occupied, just continue)
– enter the new Skype profile, add another e-mail address
– log in
– delete cookie, proceed to the password restoration page, enter the victim's e-mail
After that, a letter containing the password restoration marker should arrive by e-mail or Skype.
Now, in order to prevent the criminals from doing this, Microsoft simply closed the access to the password restoration page, therefore the scheme doesn't work anymore. However, now it is impossible to restore the password if you forgot it. A user is redirected to another page on entering the password restoration page.
To secure your account, enter: tools-settings-general settings-other things you can do - enter contact details to your profile, and change the e-mail address so that no one knew it.
