More than 3 thousand people attended Cardinal Świątek's funeral in Pinsk
Bishops and Archbishops from Belarus, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine arrived to the mass and the funeral.
Belarusian priests and believers, representatives of Belarusian and Polish governments, and diplomats also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony took place at the ground near the Cathedral Catholic Church of Assumption of the Holy Mother of Christ, BelaPAN reports. There wasn't enough space so many people were forced to stand in the drive way near the Church. The Cardinal's remains will be buried in the marble sarcophagus in the Church crypt.
Former personal secretary of Pope John Paul II Archbishop of Krakow Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz headed the holy mass. He was a close acquaintance of Kazimierz Świątek.The mourning mass was held in Latin, the ritus - in Polish.
