Policeman dead in Minsk shoot-out survived by wife and son
Ihar Ivanchyk was only 37.
The warrant officer served in Minsk's Maskouski district police department. His colleagues say Ihar Ivanchyk was an experienced officer. He rushed to disarm the murderer after his police partner had been wounded. Ihar Ivanchyk had a wife and a son. The family moved to a new apartment in 2011.
In the evening of January 8, Minsker Mikalaj P. shot police officer Ihar Ivanchyk dead and wounded his colleague. The policemen arrived upon a call. After that, the murderer shot himself. The police have opened a criminal case. Investigation is in progress.
