Senators to move to a reading hall - opposite to the President's residence
The Council of Republic will move to the old building of the National Library, because "it is a shame to show the current building to delegations".
It took 3 and a half years to build the "diamond of knowledge", and the old building has not been used for 6 years!
Euroradio found out that reconstruction of this building, which is located in Red Army Street, had lasted for two and a half years.
There's building dust in the corridors, the furniture is covered with plastic film. The instructions what to do and how to do it are written on the doors: no electricity in the sockets, dirty wallpapers, furniture shorcomings.
One builder says that the Council of Republic will move here. He adds that they should manage to finish the work by the election and even warns that the building is a regime object so it is not allowed to take pictures here.
The orderer of the reconstruction is the Chief Directorate of Capital Construction of the Presidential Affairs Administration. They confirm that the building will be used by the Council of Republic:
"It's not a secret for anyone who is interested in politics. There will be great halls for the people's deputies!" — Chief Engineer Ihar Huseu says.
The Council of Republic's officials have been sitting on their suicases for a year, waiting for the time to move. It is expected that they will move in October.
