Strippers offered 865 USD per night at Euro-2012
Femen will struggle against spreading of prostitution during the football championship.
A go-go club from Wroclaw is looking for dancers, promising 3 thousand zlotyh (about 865 USD) per night. The club is ready to hire... 50 girls at a time. This is because the country hosts the Euro-2012 football championship!
"It is clearly seen: a great number of new brothels appeared in the center of Kyiv, especially in the area which surrounds the Olympic Stadium. They even closed a certain part of old brothels, obviously to make up some police statistics, like, we are struggling against prostitution. Nevertheless, they opened new brothels instead, or, as they call them now, "the men's clubs", - activist of the Ukrainian movement Femen Alexandra Shevchenko says to Euroradio.
Femen are gathering a small international army which will fight for the women's rights after the Euro-2012 as well. Alexandra Shevchenko urges Belarusian girls to join it.
Alexandra Shevchenko: "Activists from different European countries come to our training camp, which is rather small at the moment. We even have activists from Brazil there. Unfortunately, no Belarusian activists arrived. We are inviting them to join as we know what the political situation in Belarus is. The girls who feel they are Femen - please come to Ukraine, let us start our struggle in the milder conditions".
Johanna Harner from the Polish fund La strada which helps women who were forcibly involved into prostitution says that this is most likely to be connected with the Summer season, not with the Euro-2012. She refers to the experience of the hosts of the Euro-2008 - Austria and Switzerland.
Johanna Harner : "In Austria and Switzerland, which hosted the European football championship 4 years ago, they say there was no upheaval of prostitution. However, the problem with homeless kids became more complicated - many kids were brought from Romania, Moldova - they were forced to beg for money and to conduct petty thefts".
Euroradio's correspondent tried to get hired to one of Warsaw escort-agencies, having introduced herself as a girl from Belarus. They are looking for new employees not only for the Euro-2012, but permanently.
Escort-agency: "It is totally okay that you are from Belarus. As for qualification, we do not set any demands. If you like working with us, you can stay longer, if you don't - you are free to quit anytime".
In another Warsaw agency, Euroradio's correspondent was offered to spend time with a girl - 200 zlotyh (nearly 60 USD) for the first hour and 150 (43 USD) for the rest.
Escort-agency: "It used to be cheaper but the prices got higher 2 weeks ago. It used to be 100-150 zlotyh per hour. Please come, our reception girl will lead you to the salon so that you could choose the girls that you like better. We work 24/7".
