Supreme Council of Ukraine adopts law on languages during fight (video)
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian Parliament voted for the law on principles of the state language policy, suggested by the MPs from the Party of the Regions.
248 MPs out of 364 voted for it. According
to UNIAN, the voting procedure took place during the fight
between the "regionals" and the opposition members, so the MPs did
not understand what they voted for. Apart from this, the microphones were
broken.
Now, if the President of Ukraine signs the draft bill, Russian will obtain the
status of a regional language in the places where it is considered a native language
by at least 10% of the population (this means, 13 administrative units of the
country out of 27), adds RIA Novosti.
