Ukrainian united opposition chooses leader
Leaders of the opposition parties considered Chairperson of the "Batkivschina" party Julia Tymoshenko their leader.
A consultative session of the United Opposition Council "Batkivschina", which includes the opposition parties' leaders, took place in Kyiv on Thursday. The participants of the session elected the Head of the Council - Arsen Yatsenyuk (leader of hte party "Front of Changes") and the Head of the central electoral headquarters of the United Opposition - Alyaksandr Turchynau (Deputy Chairman of the "Batkivschina" party), informs UNIAN.
Let us remind you, last year Julia Tymoshenko was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment for "exceeding the powers" during signing a gas contract with Russia in 2009. The EU and the U.S. consider her case politically motivated.
