Passport checks for Belarusians at Russian border
Reports in social networks suggest Russia has stepped up passport controls at the border with Belarus.
Alyaksandr Pashkevich wrote on Facebook that Belarusians traveling to Russia now have to go through passport controls. He was heading for Russia by bus before the Olympics. Alyaksandr wrote that only Russian frontier guards were checking passports, and there were no passport controls on the way back.
“The passport control for Belarusians entering Russia is caused by the enhanced security measures in the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” the Federal Russian Border Service told TUT.BY.
