Russia may block Facebook and Twitter
Press secretary of Roskomnadzor Vadim Amelonski announced it, independent Russian TV channel Dozhd reports.
He confirmed that head of Roskomnadzor Maksim Ksenzov had expressed the official position – Facebook and Twitter may be blocked. The possibility is being considered now.
The administration of some foreign Internet companies refused to cooperate with the Russian authorities and ‘used people as a means of politics’, Ksenzov told mass media earlier. Moscow wants big social networks to host some of their servers in Russia. According to the official, Roskomnadzor considers it ‘a social threat’ and is ready to block Facebook and Twitter in Russia.
