Russia sees no alternative to Lukashenka in Belarus
The Russian Ambassador to Minsk Alexander Surikov has claimed it. RIA Novosti informs that the diplomat answered the question whether Russia was going to support Lukashenka at the next presidential elections. The Russian Ambassador also claimed that his country had nothing to do with the Belarusian opposition. Let us remind you that mass media expressed an idea that Russian businessmen financed the Belarusian opposition and the opposition movement “Tell the Truth”.
At the same time, he did not exclude that representatives of the Belarusian opposition visited Moscow and contacted some Russian parties. “Russia has never supported the Belarusian opposition officially, being aware of the situation in the country”, - claimed Surikov. He also thinks that that the Belarusian authorities could use the aims of the Belarusian opposition to suit their own ends instead of saying that there are Russian or Polish traces in its financing.
