Russian submarine appears near Latvian waters
The place it was noticed it is not closed so there was no actual border violation.
The Russian submarine 877 Paltus appeared in Latvia’s economic zone on March 16, the Latvian armed forces report. The submarine was 27 nautical miles away from the country’s waters.
The information appeared on the Latvian National Assembly’s Twitter, BBC reports. Russian submarines and corvettes also appeared in Latvia’s economic zone in November 2014 and February 2015. Unlike territorial waters, the economic zone is not closed for other states’ warships.
