Russian warplanes land in Babruisk
Six Sukhoi-27 fighter jets and three military transport aircraft of the Russian Air Force land in the Belarusian city of Babruisk.
The planes are attached to the Western military region of the Russian Air Forces, BelaPAN reports.
Belarus suggested that Russia send up to 15 fighter jets to Belarus over NATO's increased activity near our borders, Belarus leader Aliaksandr Lukashenka told reporters on March 12.
However, talking to a visiting Russian governor from Mordovia on March 13 , the Belarusian president refuted Russian media reports that he had asked Russia for help. Russia had been asking for permission to send the fighters to Belarus for a long time, he stressed.
