Sasha Varlamau: I hope for fair court’s decision
The famous Belarusian fashion designer has made his last plea in court.
His trial is coming to an end, the court’s decision will be pronounced on July 23 at 11 a.m.
Varlamau was sitting while his speech and used evangelical images in his plea. He has spent over 2 years in jail. His health condition deteriorated. He has intervertebral hernia, his lawyer Pavel Pivavarchyk told Euroradio. He can hardly walk and has problems with breathing. He is hanging by his eye-lid in hope for a fair court’s decision.
The founder and head of the festival Fashion Mill may be returned guilty of power abuse, major larceny, major theft, misappropriation and tax evasion.
The lawyer hopes for a fair sentence because Varlamau’s guilt has not been proved.
Sasha Varlamau said in his last plea: “I’m in prison and the Fashion Mill still exists. It would have disappeared if it had not been necessary because I have spent over 2 years in prison. You could have built so many youth centres with the money spent on this investigation!”
