Sergei Lyakhovich: "I want to beat Valuyev"
Belarus's Sergei Lyakhovich, the ex-world heavy-weight boxing champion in the WBO classification, told the Russian newspaper Tvoy Den that a fight with Russia's Nikolay Valuyev will be the most difficult one in his boxing career. Lyakhovich and Valuyev are preliminary scheduled to clash in early 2008.
“Both I and Valuyev are basically in the same conditions. Both him and I unexpectedly lost our fights and gave away the champion belts. This is a good chance for him and me to restore our titles", Lyakhovich said.
At the same time, the Belrusian boxer thinks that for the loser it will be very difficult if not impossible to restore his position in the boxing rating.
According to the WBA raiting, Sergei Lyakhovich is ranked the second. A victory over Valuyev is a good chance to become No1.
The fight between Lyakhovich and Valuyev can be officially announced at the next WBA congress.
