Shautsou: Medvedev doubted legitimacy of Belarusian elections

There is an escalation of conflict between the Belarusian and Russian governments. This is how the political scientist Jury Shautsou commented the distant "force exchange" between Lukashenka and Medvedev, to the European Radio for Belarus. Shautsou: "Medvedev doubted legitimacy of presidential elections in Belarus, which means, the Union State, the highest level of contacts between the two countries, is also under doubt. Thus, he indirectly questioned  the legal capacity of CSTO".

Alongside with that, the expert does not think that means absolute political course to the West for Belarus. Shautsou is convinced that the escalation of conflict from the side of the official Moscow is a part of the Russian presidential campaign and will be conducted eventually. The campaign is to last for one more year, and the Belarusian theme will be one of the key ones for Medvedev and his team, states the political scientist.
