Standard of living reaches pre-devaluation level of 2009 in Belarus
Belstat has registered a decrease in the number of the poor and the increasing standard of living.
Head of the standard of living statistics department of Belstat Ina Kanashonak has announced it at a press conference.
Kanashonak: “The number of low-income families was 5.4% out of 100 families in 2009 and 5.5% – in 2013. We have almost reached the level of 2009. The level of poverty was increasing in 2001 and is decreasing now. Belarusians spent about 40% of their income on food in 2009 and 39.9% – now. We have almost reached the standard of living of 2009. Life is getting better.”
