Stranger wins 5-room flat in Minsk in lottery and does not come to claim his prize
ERB decided to find out what happy winners did with their prizes. A driver working at an asphalt plant in the village of Hoshchava Mikalai Kuic won a flat in Minsk recently. Colleagues were very happy about his luck. However, neighbours started spreading rumours and the attitude to the winner changed:
Kuіs: People are envious, why him, why not me? Nobody believes that an average person can win. And I also do not completely believe it at the moment.
Mikalai has been playing “Superloto” for three years on end but haven’t figured out what to do with the flat he finally won:
Kuіs: I am not going to move because I have a large family and a good job. I will probably give it to my daughter who is studying in Minsk.
That’s what winners from out-of-the-way places usually do. Some of them move to Minsk. One woman who won money and a 1-room flat managed to sell the flat and buy a 2-room apartment thanks to the jackpot. According to the PR-manager of “Belarusian Lotteries” Maria Paulenka, almost all big money prizes are used to buy flats.
Paulenka: Some people have to pay for their studies in universities, others need to prepare their children for school, and still others need to pay the credit…
Winners from Brest Region have used the money to start a business twice. One married couple shared the money with their adult children and went on a world tour.
Young people invited guests to their wedding and made lottery tickets a pass. They won 15 millions.
Paulenka: There was a woman who won 700 thousands once and 300 thousands after that. She donated all the money to a children’s home. She said: I have probably won because I had such a good purpose.
There were people who wanted to spend all the money – about 4 millions – partying with friends. There was a big family that won a flat and then a car.
Sometimes people do not claim their big prizes.
It is difficult to believe it, but nobody has claimed the 5-room flat in Minsk. It only became known that the lucky ticket was bought in Hlybokaye. The flat was put back to the lottery before the New Year’s Day again six months later.
An employee of the press service of “Superloto” recalled a woman who accidentally won a Fiat.
Employee Alesya: A woman found her ticket when she bought a new bag to match her boots. She started cleaning her old bag and saw the ticket that helped her win the car.
Kuіs: People are envious, why him, why not me? Nobody believes that an average person can win. And I also do not completely believe it at the moment.
