Svetlana Baykova in heavy condition
The condition of Svetlana Baykova who has remained in KGB custody for five months remains difficult, both physically and morally, her lawyer Mikhail Vouchak told Belapan news agency. The lawyer did not reveal what actions are applied to Baykov by investigators. He noted only that no new charges were added against her defendant.
On June 24, Belarus' Prosecutor General Ryhor Vasilevich extended Baykova's detention term for two more months up to August 24. Baykova, former chief investigator at the Office of Prosecutor General, was arrested by KGB agents on February 25. KGB chief Vadzim Zaitsev opened criminal proceedings against her on February 24. She is accused of office abuse.
