There are 10 potential presidential contenders left, but each of them may still be withdrawn

The Central Election Commission has informed the results of check-up of the signatures collected for nomination of the presidential contenders. The check up showed that 10 contenders had overcome the 100-thousand barrier, namely Ryhor Kastusyou, Aliaksandr Lukashenka, Ales Mikhalevich, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Jaraslau Ramanchuk, Vital Rymasheuski, Andrej Sannikau, Mikalaj Statkevich, Viktar Tsiareshchanka, and Dzmitry Us.
The majority of signatures collected for the entrepreneur Uladzimir Pravalski turned out to be invalid. All the rest 10 people still have an opportunity to become real candidates for President. The CEC Secretary Mikalaj Lazavik has told Euroradio about it.

He has underlined that each of the 10 current contenders can be withdrawn from the presidential race until the day of voting:

Lazavik: "Such a possibility exists till the day of voting. If someone breaks electoral legislation, Belarusian legislation, then there can be such a possibility".

The CEC Secretary has said that pretensions to the documents submitted by contenders can be the reason for withdrawal. The CEC is expecting from the contenders their written agreements to run for President, biographical questionnaires and income and property statements (of a person nominated as a contender, his wife, and close relatives over 18 if they live together and have a common household), in the nearest future.

Lazavik has also stated that there were mistakes in all the collected signatures. Thus, approximately 2,5 thousand signatures for Aliaksandr Lukashenka were considered invalid - due to technical mistakes, according to the CEC Secretary.

The Central Election Commission plans to register candidates by November 19.
