There is no due date for inviting OSCE mission to observe elections

There is no due date for inviting the OSCE mission to observe the elections. This was informed in the interview to BelaPAN  by the Press-Secretary of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of OSCE Jens Eschenbacher. However, he stated that the European structures would be glad to receive invitations as soon as possible, as the standard procedure is first to send an estimating mission to the country in order to decide whether it is necessary to observe the electoral campaign and in which format. Then, more time is needed to form the observing mission itself.

Previously, the Head of the OSCE office in Minsk Benedikt Haller expressed hope that the organization would receive an invitation to observe Presidential elections in Belarus, meaning both short-term and long-term observation.
