Tsihan and Dzevyatouki have not received their medals back yet
The Olympians are waiting for the NOC and Ministry of Sport to prepare all the required documents. Belarusian hammer throwers Ivan Tsihan and Vadzim Dzevyatouski who were deprived of their Olympic medals in 2008 and then acquitted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport are still waiting for their medals. The Ministry of Sport and the National Olympic Committee are still preparing all the necessary documents, said Vazdim Dzevyatouski in an interview with ERB.
Vazdim Dzevyatouski: “The process of returning the medals is being performed. As far as I understand, it is necessary to prepare all the documents so that they correspond to the situation. We have not been refused. As the court’s decision has cancelled the decision of the International Olympic Committee and we have not violated any rules, documents should be prepared accordingly. I think everything will be solved within the next two weeks”.
The sportsmen are waiting to get back their medals, money rewards and presidential scholarships. The Olympians have promised to organize a press conference to explain all the details of the trial and the doping tests to all the interested.
Let us remind you that Dzevyatouksi and Tsihan were accused of using doping after the Olympics in Beijing and deprived of their silver and bronze medals. The Belarusians spent almost two years trying to appeal the decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne and spent half a million dollars on it. The athletes were acquitted on June 10.
