UCP leader fined Br10.5 million for participation in authorized action (photo)
UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka was fined by Minsk's Central District Court 50 base amounts (Br10.5 million) on April 12 for participation in the Freedom Day action on March 25. The opposition politician was returned guilty of violating the order of mass events organization (part 3, article 23.34 of the Administrative Code), the UCP press service reports. The decision was made by judge Victoria Shabunya.
Administrative violation reports were also drawn up against Alyaksei Yanukevich, Vital Rymasheuski, Anatol Shumchanka, Pavel Sevyarynets, Mikalai Statkevich, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu and others for the action held on March 25. Yanukevich, Rymasheuski and Shumchanka took part in a meeting near the cinema house October. However, Minsk City Executive Committee had allowed the Freedom Day action participants to gather there. The opposition politicians addressed the present before walking along Surhanau Street.
Statkevich, Nyaklyayeu, Lyabedzka and Sevyarynets laid flowers on the monument to Yanka Kupala and walked along Independence Avenue towards the cinema house October without receiving the authorities’ permission.
