UK Ambassador in Minsk Fionna Gibb has published her statement to Belarusian authorities, calling to investigate the disapperances of prominent opposition figures - Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Yury Zakharanka and cameraman Dzmitry Zavadski.
The video appeal was published on UK Embassy's page on Facebook and timed with the International Day of the Disappeared marked on 30 August.
The former vice-speaker of the Supreme Council Viktar Hanchar, businessman Anatol Krasouski, former Interior minister Yury Zakharanka and cameramn Dzmitry Zavadsky went missing in unclear circumstances in late 1999 and early 2000s. Many people suspect that former Belarusian law-enforcement officials may have been behind those disapperances.
