Ukraine to shut down exploded mine
Olexandr Turchinov, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister and the head of government’s commission to investigate the explosion at Karl Marx coal pit near Donetsk, said Sunday that the mine was most likely to be closed down.
The explosion took place 1000 meters under the ground surface, killing 4 and blocking 37 miners inside. Rescuers cannot break through to the trapped workers. This is the largest accident at Ukrainian outdated coalmines, according to reports.
