UN Human Rights Committee knows about death of two Belarusian prisoners
The execution of two people is a gross violation of the international law. A human rights activist Raman Kislyak who dealt with the case of executed Vasil Yuzepchyk has claimed it in an interview with ERB. Kislyak: "I think it is a gross volition of citizens’ rights. The two people, whatever crime they committed, had a right to send appeals to international organizations. They had the right to ask the UN Human Rights Committee to consider their cases. The Republic of Belarus has been sent a request not to conduct executions in correspondence with the Committee’s regulations”.
By the way, the Human Rights Committee has already been informed about the situation. In the human rights activist’s opinion, the death penalty will have a negative effect on the relations with the international community. Belarus has violated the norms of the international law and has proved that it can violate any agreement at any moment - and it makes a bad image.
Let us remind you that two prisoners sentenced to death for having killed several people were executed last week. Both prisoners tried to appeal their sentences but the appeals were not satisfied. Both of them pled for mercy, however, according to “Amnesty International”, the prisoners were informed about the state leader’s refusal a minute before the execution.
